Position Overview
The Calibre Semi-Manufacturing QA OPC Team is looking for a Senior Software Test Engineer to join Siemens EDA's Design-to-Silicon division. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the quality, reliability, and continuous improvement of Calibre Semi-Manufacturing products by designing, developing, and executing functional, performance, and regression tests. You will work closely with development, product engineering, and marketing teams to deliver high-quality software releases while contributing to test strategy, automation, regression analysis, and continuous enhancements to the overall testing process.
Responsibilities:
- Own the quality of Calibre OPC tools by analyzing complex user stories, developing comprehensive test plans, and ensuring high quality standards throughout the product lifecycle, from early research and development to production releases and maintenance patches.
- Design and enhance QA automation solutions by building and maintaining robust test automation frameworks and custom internal testing tools that improve verification efficiency, increase test coverage, and ensure consistent, reproducible results.
- Drive performance and scalability validation by developing and maintaining performance benchmarking frameworks to evaluate Calibre engine throughput, memory utilization, and scalability across large-scale distributed Unix/Linux Grid computing environments.
- Lead defect investigation and continuous improvement efforts by performing in-depth log analysis, documenting complex software defects, creating reproducible test cases for R&D, and actively participating in Agile/Scrum ceremonies to enhance testing workflows and support successful sprint delivery.
Required experience/skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in software testing and quality assurance.
- Hands-on experience testing Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and/or computational lithography simulation software.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Shell/Bash/TCL scripting for production-grade test automation, custom tool development, and data parsing.
- Solid experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), modular software design, data structures, algorithm optimization, version control (Git/CVS), and CI/CD practices.
- Familiarity with EDA technologies and languages, such as OPC, SVRF, and TVF, is considered an advantage.
- ISTQB certification is a plus.
- Experience with, or a strong interest in, applying Generative AI techniques throughout the Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC).
- Hands-on exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic AI frameworks for automated test generation, validation of physical design specifications, and intelligent QA assistant development.
- Strong understanding of software quality assurance methodologies, including test planning, exploratory testing, boundary value analysis, regression testing, and Golden Baseline verification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global, cross-functional R&D teams.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in Agile environments and adapts well to changing priorities.

Our Benefits & Rewards
The salary range for this position is $33,500 to $67,000 and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate's job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.
