About the role:
Our R&D team in Breda consists of around 30 people who are responsible for the design of analog and digital hardware, embedded software, firmware, driver and application software. This multicultural team works has the benefit that is working quite autonomous while experiencing the benefits of belonging to the Siemens family. Close cooperation with our teams in Belgium, Romania and Germany as well as with external partners results in a highly dynamic environment.
As a Senior Electronic Hardware Design Engineer Analog, you will become part of a team consisting of other Electronic Hardware Design Engineers (Analog and Mixed Signal), Layout Engineers and Test Engineers. Together with the Firmware and FPGA team you will be developing high quality products starting from requirements management till introduction in the factory (end to end).
As a Senior Electronic Hardware Design Engineer Analog, you will be a key player in the department. You will have a clear impact on the department. You can influence amongst others the technical specifications, the technical roadmap, future innovations and development processes.
What you’ll be doing:
You are responsible for the development of board-level analog electronic systems and circuits. You are also required to keep up with all relevant technology trends which could impact / improve our products or business. You create technical state-of-the-art proposals on system level to serve customer needs. Design elements such as high accuracy, linearity, stability and dynamic range are of the highest importance. Innovation, quality and reliability are the main focal points during the development process. You will be responsible for (im)proving the specifications by means of a theoretical approach as well as a statistical approach based on measurements. You will be sparring partner of System and SW Architects, Development Management and Product Management during definition of a product or system.
As a Senior Electronic Hardware Design Engineer, you are defining, realizing and maintaining various electronics building blocks and products for both existing and new Siemens products.
We expect the following from the Electronic Hardware Design Engineer:
- Act as representative of the HW team in a multidisciplinary design team.
- Analyze requirements and translate these into matching designs.
Design
- Solid knowledge of and proven experience with analog design techniques regarding signal/sensor conditioning, anti-alias filtering and analog to digital conversion
- Knowledge and familiarity with low-noise and precision circuit design techniques.
- Familiar with immunity against unwanted (HF+ LF) signals
- Work closely together with Layout Engineer to get optimum results.
- To have knowledge of Thermal design and to be able (or learn) to do a thermal simulation using Mentor tooling.
Theoretical
- Familiar with the fundamental principles of signal processing.
- Noise and error analysis of analog circuits and whole signal chain using theoretical calculations, Spice simulations, and Monte-Carlo analysis.
- Familiar with statistical analysis
- Analyze measurement data to (im)prove specifications.
- Able to use tools like Mathcad and Mathematica to automate data analysis and visualize measurement results and statistical data.
Project management & documentation
- Document development efforts for the subsystem, component, or module, including requirements, specifications, reviews, test procedures, and test reports.
- Make a work breakdown and effort estimations for the objectives you are assigned to.
- Coordinate, support and execute product tests to provide a traceable verification of the product. Aspects like robustness, endurance, performance, EMC and reliability are some of the parameters that are relevant.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor degree or higher in electrical engineering or equivalent
- At least 5 years’ experience in Electronic Hardware development
- Experience and/or affinity in the following:
- Electronic Hardware Design:, Designing analog and mixed signal electronics.
- Experience in following tools is a plus: LTSPICE, Mentor toolset (Xpedition, SI, thermal, etc), Office 365, MatLab, Mathematica, Labview
- Initiative, pro-active.
- High motivated team player with good social- and communication skills.
- Accurate, systematic approach, analytical, problem solving.
- Quality focus.
