Position Overview:

As an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Integration Intern, you will support the development of AI-powered simulation workflows within [1] Simcenter Simlab (formerly known as [2] Altair Simlab). The primary objective of this role is to explore, develop, and integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities that enhance engineering simulation workflows, improve automation, and simplify user interactions for consumer electronics and multiphysics applications.

You will evaluate existing workflows and identify opportunities where AI can improve efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, provide intelligent guidance, and enhance the overall simulation experience. Working under general supervision, you will collaborate with application engineers, developers, and product teams to prototype and validate innovative AI-driven solutions for simulation workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

AI-Powered Simulation Workflow Development

  • Learn and apply Simcenter SimLab for consumer electronics and multiphysics simulation workflows.
  • Evaluate existing simulation workflows, tools, and automation methodologies to identify opportunities for AI integration.
  • Support the development of AI-powered workflows that improve simulation setup, automation, post-processing, and user assistance.
  • Assist in integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI-driven capabilities into SimLab workflows.
  • Explore intelligent workflow automation, AI-assisted guidance, and data-driven engineering solutions.
  • Develop scripts and prototype tools using Python and/or C++ to support AI-enabled workflow automation.
  • Contribute to testing, validation, and performance evaluation of AI-driven simulation features.

Documentation, Content & Collaboration

  • Create user documentation, tutorials, and workflow guides for AI-enabled simulation capabilities.
  • Develop presentation materials, demos, and video assets showcasing AI-powered workflows and SimLab advancements.
  • Collaborate with application engineers, developers, and product teams to support implementation, testing, and validation activities.
  • Assist Technical Product Managers with customer projects, workflow evaluations, and issue reproduction/testing.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote environment.
  • Strong interest in AI applications for engineering simulation and workflow automation.
  • Basic understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), generative AI, or machine learning concepts.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for automation, data analysis, or AI-related development.
  • Exposure to C++ programming is preferred.
  • Interest in thermal/mechanical simulation, CAE, or multiphysics engineering workflows is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with simulation software or engineering workflows is a plus.
  • Exposure to APIs, workflow automation, or data-driven application development is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Camtasia or other video/content creation tools is a plus
