Siemens Cloud Operations organization is seeking an experienced and motivated Cloud DevOps Release Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and overseeing the end-to-end software release process, ensuring efficient and reliable deployments while maintaining the highest standards of quality and stability. The DevOps Release Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including development, quality assurance, security, and operations, to ensure seamless software releases and continuous improvement of our release processes.

As a DevOps Release Manager, you will release products software after completing the testing and deployment stages, and work closely with the application development team, testing team, and production team. You will maintain proper coordination between these teams to update the project related information.

This position lends into overall organizational agile transformation and release train engineering activities as a part of the Cloud Operations Programs and Process organization. This includes but is not limited to the function of a Release Manager ensuring all conditions are met in accordance with the change management, test, continuous deployment policies prior to deployment to production environment.

This position requires strong leadership, firm decision-making, cross business collaboration, and organizational skills.Lead

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

·       Release Planning and Coordination:

·       Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to plan and coordinate continuous software releases.

·       Define release scope, schedule, and dependencies to ensure timely and smooth deployments.

·       Create and submit change records as required for process and audit compliance. Participation in Technical Change Advisory and Review boards as required.

·       Involvement with planning, testing, tracking, release, deployment, communication, and risk management. 

·       Release Automation:

·       Develop and maintain automated deployment pipelines using industry-standard tools such as AWS Cl/CD, GitLab CI/CD, or similar.

·       Automate and streamline release processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.

·       Environment Management

·       Manage various development, testing, staging, and production environments, ensuring consistency and reliability across environments.

·       Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices to manage environments using tools like Morpheus, Terraform, CloudFormation or similar.

·       Version Control and Branching Strategy:

·       Maintain version control repositories and enforce best practices for branching and merging.Ensure codebase stability and minimize conflicts during development and release cycles.

·       Identify potential risks and issues that could impact the release process.

·       Develop strategies to mitigate these risks and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

·       Continuous Improvement:

·       Proactively identify areas for process improvement within the release management lifecycle.

·       Implement feedback loops to capture lessons learned from each release and apply improvements iteratively.

·       Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends related to release management and reliability engineering.

·       Communication:

·       Facilitate clear communication across teams, providing updates on release status, known issues, and any potential impact on stakeholders.

·       Coordinate communication of release schedules and changes to all relevant parties.

    • Collaborate with QA teams to establish and execute release validation procedures.

·       Ensure releases are thoroughly tested and meet quality standards before deployment.

·       Drive continuous improvement by analyzing release management trends, identifying recurring issues, and working with teams to implement solutions

·       Incident Management:

·       Work closely with SRE teams to address any post-release incidents or issues, contributing to rapid resolution and root cause analysis.

Required Qualifications (or equivalent experience)

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of proven experience as a DevOps Release Manager or similar role in a fast-paced software development environment.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and related tools.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as AWS CI/CD, GitLab CI/CD, or others.

·       Hands-on experience with version control systems (AWS CodeCommit, Git, SVN) and branching strategies.

·       Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, Morpheus, or similar.

·       Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and their application in release management.

·       Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion

·       Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills

·       Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements.

·       Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.

·       Attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining high-quality software releases.

·       Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (EKS, ECS, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

·       Relevant certifications in DevOps or related fields are a plus.

·       Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $101,200 to $182,200 and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate’s work location as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.  Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees.
