Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
We are looking for a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our team in Cairo, Egypt. This role is ideal for someone with 1-3 years of experience in backend software development who is eager to grow their technical skills and contribute to building scalable, high-quality applications.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL. Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS is considered a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
* Build clean, scalable, and efficient APIs and backend components
* Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, and other developers to deliver high-quality software solutions
* Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices
* Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues in a timely manner
* Work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including writing queries and supporting schema design
* Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development standards and team practices
* Support deployment and monitoring activities for backend services
* Contribute to cloud-based development initiatives, with AWS exposure being an advantage
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
* 1-3 years of experience in software development, preferably in backend engineering
* Good experience with Java
* Hands-on experience with Spring Boot
* Familiarity with RESTful API development
* Experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL
* Understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design fundamentals
* Experience using Git or similar version control systems
* Good problem-solving skills and willingness to learn in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications
* Exposure to AWS services
* Familiarity with Docker or containerized applications
* Understanding of microservices architecture
* Experience working in Agile development environments
