Rate of Pay:        The salary range for this position in Fremont, CA  is $158,080 – 225,800 per year and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. Duties:    Develop new heuristics and state-of-the-art approaches to digital circuit optimization in the company place-and-route tool. Work independently on major optimization projects and in collaboration with peers. Research techniques, methodologies, and algorithms to improve quality of results (QoR) and runtime of optimization engine in various stages of the company place-and-route tool like placement, clock-tree-synthesis, and routing. Implement ideas by coding in C++ programing language. Test and evaluate the implemented methodologies using relevant test designs for their impact on runtime, memory footprint, and quality of results. Respond to customers and benchmark requests pertaining to optimization engine in a timely manner. Maintain legacy code, fix bugs and refactor code by adding new C++ code along with being responsible for maintaining portions of the existing optimization source code.

Requirements: Employer will accept a Master's degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or in a related field and 36 months of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Alternatively, employer will accept a PhD degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or in a related field and 12 months of experience in in the job offered or in a related occupation. Any combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable. The position requires experience in the following: Theoretical and practical application of place-and-route digital circuit optimization; Analyzing QoR (Quality of Results) issues and implementing solutions; Profiling runtime bottlenecks and making runtime improvements; C++ and Tcl programming to implement proposed enhancements; Working in Linux operating system; CVS software version control system to commit code enhancements; Jira bug tracking system to record, find and track software bugs; Review Board code review system. 40% telecommuting permitted within commutable distance.
